Our Go-To Travel Snacks (Because You Know Weโ€™re Packing a Cooler)

Summerโ€™s headed out wayโ€ฆ and that means one thing: road trips. Sometimes we hop a flight. Sometimes we throw it all in the back of the truck and take off. Either way, snacks are non-negotiable.

Because truly... what is a road trip without snacks? (Itโ€™s just traffic and trust issues.)

Sure, weโ€™ve been known to wander into a gas station, grab something totally garbage just to โ€œsee what it tastes likeโ€... and toss it two bites later (yes, wasteful; yes, we know better).

When weโ€™re being intentional (and we usually are), we come prepared with the good stuff:

  • Protein-heavy picks for the drivers

  • Healthy fats to keep us full and focused

  • A good olโ€™ crunch to satisfy the ritual craving
(because eating a crunchy thing on the open road is its own experience)

Iโ€™ve rounded up our favorite travel snacks below โ€” plus a few extras: protein powders, greens, hydration helpers โ€” the things that keep us feeling good when weโ€™re eating out, trying new foods, and not always moving our bodies like we normally would when behind the wheel or being a passenger princess for 8+ hours.

Because yes, roadtrips are also for that interesting menu item that screams โ€œIโ€™m gonna regret this tomorrowโ€  and gas station chips. But this list? Itโ€™s how we support our bodies in the background so we can say yes and still feel like ourselves afterward.

And if youโ€™re a little extra (we are), youโ€™ll love this part:

Weโ€™ve been known to smoke meats, boil eggs, and pack travel-friendly fruits like berries, bananas and avocados โ€” things that are easy to manage while moving but still deeply nourishing.

With a Yeti or Rtic cooler, ice or ice packs can last days. Which is a game-changer on longer drives when movement is limited and nutrition still matters.
